I have a prediction or maybe a premonition that safety pin inspired jewellery is going to be on everywhere. Oh yes, you read that sentence correctly.
I’m not really sure whether or not this is pure inspiration or it’s an innovative concept. This could be up to the individual to decide.
Giles & Brother have created a safety pin necklace and earrings available at Browns Fashion.
More examples of the unusual concept can be found at Net-a-porter where a safety pin brooch, by the designer Lanvin, can be purchased.
What will be the next inspiration for designers I wonder, maybe paper clips or sewing needles. Watch this space.

Vampire movies and TV programmes have always been around but, with the Twilight films and books being so popular it was only of matter of time before they influenced the fashion world.
The ‘Gothic’ look has always been popular with designers such as Alexander McQueen and Vivienne Westwood but, now many other designers have embraced this look. Duffy for Kabiri at Selfidges and Thomas Sabo have created a new gothic range of jewellery.
Mawi have a crystal & skull metal bracelet available at net-a-porter whilst Pamela Love has focused on talons.
Dominic Jones’ collection, which is inspired by animal teeth and claws, can be found at Matches Fashion, Net-a-Porter and Browns Fashion.

I’m sure we’ve all seen the traditional ceremonial uniform which has been worn by the Queens guards for nearly two centuries but, this could be about to change.
The hats worn by the guards are actually made of real bearskin (imported from Canada) which obviously isn’t very PC these days. So, the Buckingham Palace guards could soon be wearing a faux-fur version of the real hats designed by vegetarian Stella McCartney.
Apparently the hats were originally designed to make the soldiers look taller as they were marching towards battle but it’s been over 100 years since these uniforms have been used for anything but guarding the Palace.

This will have been an exciting year for Gio-Goi once Christmas has finished. The first instalment in the excitement was Gio-Goi live at Coloursfest, a summer dance festival in Glasgow where ten thousand party goes turned to up to enjoy headline DJ’s.

Katy Perry- the fiancee of funnyman Russell Brand- demonstrated why summertime is perfect for being even more daring with your wardrobe, and showed off her stunning figure is a gorgeous cherry-covered light blue dress.

This dress looked fab on Katy, but it certainly isn’t a style for the shy and retiring- although when you’re planning on getting hitched to Russell Brand it’s highly unlikely that you’re going to be a wallflower is it?!

Although it has to be said that Katy does have a tendency to get it wrong from time to time, this look deserves the ultimate thumbs up.

katyperry

The dress looked amazing with Katy’s jet black locks and blood red lippy- and if she looks like this when she’s out and about shopping, lord only knows how show-stopping she’s going to look on her big day!

Bimbo Paris Hilton strutted her tacky stuff on the catwalk this week when she made an appearance at the Sao Paulo Fashion Week closing show.

Wearing an outfit that can only be described as ‘trailer-trash chic’, the heiress showed that money really can’t buy you class. She topped off her unbelievably slutty look with mismatched extensions and an over-exaggerated pout that would give Pamela Anderson a run for her money- never a good look!

paris

Why any self-respecting fashion designer would want this awful excuse of a woman ‘modelling’ their clothes is beyond me! Paris obviously thought she looked hot as she pouted her way down the catwalk and blew kisses- she looked a hot mess if you ask me!!

Gladiator sandals were the footwear of last summer, and they’re still massive this year too- literally.

Flat styles were all the rage last summer, also this year the stakes have been raised and platform gladiators are where it’s at!

You don’t have to resign your flats to the style sin bin just yet though, as they’re great for when you’re on holiday. I’ve just come back from Marbella, and all the girls over there were rocking the look at all the trendiest beach parties, so there’s life in the old soles yet!

Miu-Miu-Suede-platform-gladiator-sandals

I really don’t do flat shoes though, so I’m totally loving the platform look, and they look fab in the day with some leggings or skinny jeans and amazing at night with a nice tight mini dress.

Office and Topshop have some stunning pairs, so get in on the act now before the rain starts drenching your feet again!

Four months pregnant Rachel Stevens, who is best known for being part of one of the cheesiest bands ever- Sclub7- was out and about at Graduate Fashion Week wearing a seriously short and tight sequin bodycon mini skirt.

However, although congratulations are in order on the upcoming new arrival, this was really not a good look on Rachel in my opinion.

Apart from the fact that the sequined look is seriously dated now, the skirt didn’t exactly flatter Rachel’s ever-blossoming figure, and I hate to say it but she did just look as though she’s been stuffing herself with the carbs! :(

I’m not saying pregnant women should cover up in loose clothes for 9 months- far from it- but Rachel needs to give her maternity wardrobe a serious re-think, as this sort of get-up isn’t a good look by anyone’s standards!!

Cheryl Cole really can do no wrong at the moment, and she proved this at last night’s Glamour Woman of the Year awards.

Despite winning the main prize, Cheryl’s main achievement of the night was the absolutely stunning dress which she chose to wear.

The light pink dress, which combined the looks of both a mini and a floor length gown, looked absolutely amazing, and if love rat Ashley Cole has seen the pictures he’s sure to be crying into his cornflakes this morning.

Cheryl completed the show-stopping look with a big, side swept hairstyle and minimal accessories. To be fair though, when you look this fantastic you don’t need tonnes of bling to get the flashbulbs popping!

One word Ashley- GUTTED!!!
