Scott Schuman’s fashion blog ‘The Sartorialist’ has influenced many people across the globe in their search for great looks. It has even been named as one of the Top 100 Design Influencers by America’s Time Magazine. With this in mind it was probably only a matter of time before the blog made it onto the printed page.
Schuman began the blog when he noticed a disparity in his experience working in the fashion industry between what was being sold and what people were wearing out on the street. Motivated by the sheer number of people in New York that he thought looked cool, Schuman took up his camera and began to take snapshots of ordinary people. These shots of cool styles worn by regular people about their business were presented as a blog, and soon enough people took notice.

‘The Sartorialist’ has expanded hugely since it began and Schuman now has a regular column in GQ magazine devoted to street fashion. Schuman has probably succeeded in his aim of bridging the gap between the street and the fashion industry as budding fashionistas look to ‘The Sartorialist’ for inspiration on looks, regardless of the origins of the clothing. The new book will be a collection of his favourite pictures and styles.
